The IRS issued a reminder for people to continue practicing proper cybersecurity habits by securing computers, phones, and other devices. According to the IRS, scams and schemes use the IRS as a lure, which can take on many variations. This makes defending your personal information vital. These are tips the IRS proposed to keep your information secure.

According to the IRS, treat personal information like cash and don’t hand it out to just anyone. Safeguard your personal data by only offering personal information or conducting financial transactions on verified, reputable, encrypted websites. Use strong passwords, but don’t use the same password for many accounts. Set password and encryption protections for wireless networks. Avoid phishing scams, and use security software. Last but not least, you should back up important files.
